Summit’s systems advocacy efforts includes working to remove barriers and advance accessibility in all areas of community life. Through technical assistance, consultation, training, and education, Summit helps communities, organizations, businesses, housing providers, developers, and government agencies create environments, programs, and services that are accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to people with disabilities.

Our accessibility work spans a wide range of areas, including housing, public accommodations, government programs and services, transportation, parks and recreation, trails, community facilities, healthcare settings, workplaces, digital accessibility, and other public spaces. We provide guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Housing Act accessibility requirements, universal design principles, and accessibility best practices.

Summit offers services such as accessibility assessments, plan and design reviews, housing accessibility consultations, site evaluations, barrier identification, recommendations for accessible improvements, and technical guidance on policies, programs, and services. We also provide training and education to help organizations understand their responsibilities and proactively incorporate accessibility into planning, design, and operations.

By working collaboratively with stakeholders, Summit helps prevent barriers before they are created and identifies practical solutions to existing accessibility challenges. Our goal is to ensure that people with disabilities can fully access and participate in housing, public services, recreational opportunities, employment, education, healthcare, and community life.
